Uses
The actual gear and software, not the aspirational kind.
Homelab
- Proxmox VE — runs the whole server now. Snapshots before I touch anything; it's changed how I tinker.
- An aging tower — repurposed desktop doing far more than it was sold for. Loud, but honest work.
- A pile of mismatched drives — slowly being replaced by things I trust. A NAS is the plan, not the present.
- Tailscale — so I can reach the lab from anywhere without poking holes in the router I'd later regret.
Desk
- A boring, reliable keyboard — I stopped chasing the perfect one. This is fine, and "fine" ships.
- One good lamp — warm bulb. Most of this site was written under it after dark.
- Paper notebook — where ideas land before they're worth typing. This site is the second draft of that.
Dev tools
- VS Code — nothing exotic. A handful of extensions and a theme that's easy on the eyes.
- The terminal — more of my workflow than I'd admit. Half my homelab lives in a few shell scripts.
- Git + a plain static host — this very site: hand-written HTML and CSS, pushed to Cloudflare Pages. No build step.
